ABOUT US

Bittoorong kennels is owned by Barry and Angela Ratcliff and was first established in 1986.  We have been involved with both German Shepherds and Australian Kelpies for close to 30 years in all arenas from working dogs, to show, obedience, agility, tracking and our close companions.

With our shepherds, we strive to breed top quality dogs of correct type.  Most importantly we focus on temperament and capacity of our dogs to undertake all other kinds of activities including obedience, tracking, endurance and agility.  We aim to produce the complete package of a dog that can achieve in both the specialty and all breeds show rings, work well and be a pleasure to live with. 

We breed show quality Kelpies, that are capable of working all day, always striving for a combination of good temperament and excellent conformation.  We consider the Kelpie to be an Australian icon which deserves much greater appreciation.  They make wonderful pets, particularly for young, active families and are as at home in the suburbs as they are in the bush, so long as they are exercised and treated as part of the family. 

We occasionally have puppies available from both breeds for approved homes. We are happy to help you with the training of your puppy and will take a lifelong interest in your puppy.  When we place pups we aim to make friends.
